In what has been described as a well overdue development, a foremost Public Relations expert, Chido Nwakanma has released his debut book, Media Relations Playbook: 25 Proven Effective Hacks.

This latest contribution to the media management ecosystem by this adjunct at the School of Media and Communication of Pan Atlantic University, is expected to impact the practice of perception management businesses and boost knowledge on the vibrant media relations aspect of Public Relations.

To share the news, Nwakanma wrote on his LinkedIn page: “It took a while to come out. I am glad to announce to friends, family, and colleagues that I have delivered Nigeria’s much-awaited guide to media relations management. Media Relations Playbook is an invaluable book on a core specialism in Public Relations”.

He added: “Media Relations Playbook offers a guide to tested and proven routes to success in media relations management in Nigeria and Africa. It is an exploration and dimensioning of my experiences in the field. The book explores and dimensions professionals’ experiences and places the issues in contemporary developments in public relations.

“It fills a gap in theory and practice and also represents a contribution towards improving the practice of media management, where professionals must identify and locate critical media management issues within the current theory and global practice standards”.

While the soft copy of the magazine is already selling on platforms like Amazon and Selar.com, Nwakanma assured that hard copies of the book would soon be in circulation.

With the release of the new book, Nwakanma revealed that another publication from him would soon be released: “Expect soon its companion on Client Relations Management that I titled Romancing the King“.

Nwakanma is a communications strategist and marketer with extensive media and industry experience consulting in Nigeria and Africa.

He has 35 years of communication management experience covering roles in media, industry and consulting. His specialties include communication strategy development and execution, branding and identity, content development, custom publishing, media engagement, and editing.

He is the Chief Executive of Brandhaus Communications Limited, a strategic communications management firm. He is also on Adjunct where he teaches courses in journalism and communication at the Faculty of the School of Media and Communication, Pan Atlantic University.

Nwakanma had been the Chief Marketing Officer of Daily Times of Nigeria Plc, and Chief Executive of Taijo Wonukabe Limited. He was also Export and Institutional Sales, and Media Relations Manager at Cadbury Nigeria Plc. He was the General Editor of Business magazine and regional correspondent (Port Harcourt) covering the South-South and South-East for the defunct ThisWeek magazine.

He was President of the International Association of Business Communicators, Nigeria, and a respected voice in Nigeria’s communication circles. He was also President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and that of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, UK, and a registered practitioner in advertising (RPA).

A resource person for workshops, he enjoys imparting knowledge from his vast experience in the industry.

Nwakanma holds an Upper Honours BA in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1985) and an MSc in Sociology from the University of Lagos. He also has an MSc in Media and Communication from the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, where he is enrolled for the PhD in Media and Communication.
