It was commendations galore for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board from Nigerians on social media after a history making MatchDay 1 that saw five matches streamed live on the NPFL Live app.

The production managed by rights holders, Propel Sports Africa (PSA) had live streams from Ibadan, Owerri, Katsina, Umuahia and Lagos.

NPFL Chairman, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye expressed delight with the first ever multicast of live games and said he is proud it is happening on his watch as the head of the Board.

“We are looking forward to achieving a lot more innovations to the league and ensure that it moves in the right growth trajectory in revenue and quality of play.

“One of the promises we made under the Interim Management Committee (IMC) was to bring the league to the screen and streaming is a step in that direction while we continue to explore options to bring the league to television”, Elegbeleye remarked.

Media Entrepreneur, Edafe Mathew of Elegbete TV, took to his X handle to praise the quality of the pictures and commentary, saying “It is a step forward for the league”.

Abuja-based sports journalist, Michael Obasi suggested that following the success of multiple venue broadcast, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF); and the Minister of Sports should fashion a robust policy for the league.

“For the first time in Nigerian football, Propel Sports have made history with a number of live game broadcast. It is time the NFF President sit with the Honourable Minister of Sports and work on proper policy to drive this league. We will never have a better chance again”, Obasi posted on the X social media app.

For Adegboyega Oluware, “I bet you’ll think this is an European fixture. It’s a historic moment for Nigerian league; stellar commentary, top notch video quality”.

Mr. Pen wrote: “Clear crisp quality from the NPFLLive app. I pray this is sustained”.
