The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has urged opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr Peter Obi, and Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, to unite under the party to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.
The Lagos State Chairman, Mr James Adeshina, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
He made the call while reacting to the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), adopted by some prominent opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeshina, a former Lagos State Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Chairman, described the renewed ADC leadership crisis as a threat to opposition cohesion.
He said: ‘Nigeria’s political landscape is once again witnessing turbulence—this time within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
‘What should have been a strong alternative platform is now entangled in internal disputes, leadership struggles, and uncertainty.
He emphasised PRP’s long-standing legacy and ideological consistency.
‘We encourage opposition leaders to rescue Nigeria by joining PRP, a party existing for 47 years with strong ideology and unity’, he said.
The chairman expressed optimism about the party’s electoral prospects.
He said PRP had the capacity to win the 2027 presidential election and Lagos State governorship if opposition forces unite under its platform.
