Public Image key to advancing Rotary’s mission, impact, says incoming DG Lanre Adedoyin

Incoming Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin has emphasised the paramount importance of public image in advancing Rotary’s global mission and impact.

At the inauguration of the district’s enlarged Public Image committee for the 2025/2026 Rotary year. commencing on 1 July, Adedoyin said: ‘The importance of Public Image cannot be over-emphasised, and Rotary International places a very high premium on our image because that is what we advertise to the world; that is who we are. And we just need to be conscious of whatever we do’.

The inaugurated committee encompasses heads of other communication-related committee. Among these are the committees for the Rotary Days of Service, Rotary Global Radio, Editorial, Social Media/Website, and Humanitarian Reporting Awards.

The overall objectives include working as a team and winning together. ‘This strategy is also aimed at integrating our District’s communication activities so that we are all on the same page to achieve our Public Image objectives’, Adedoyin said at the event, which held at the Rotary Centre, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

The strategy signifies a renewed emphasis on enhancing the visibility and effective communication of Rotary’s various projects and activities within the district.

A central highlight of the ceremony was the re-appointment of the district’s Public Image committee chair, Assistant Governor Ehi Braimah to serve in the same capacity. Braimah, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Naija Times and Lagos Postwas recently appointed the Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator in Africa’s Region 27 of Rotary International.

As well as Braimah, other committee members were  sworn in, ready to commence their responsibilities aimed at further promoting the image and core values of Rotary International.

Past Assistant Governors Kayode Aderinokun, Lanre Kasim, and John Senaya will serve the committee as Resource Advisers. Their inclusion, based on their extensive experience within Rotary, is expected to significantly enhance the smooth and effective execution of planned initiatives.

Adedoyin further stressed that all service-oriented activities shared with the public must consistently reflect Rotary’s enduring motto, which is “Service Above Self”.

He also highlighted the strategic significance of the various subcommittees operating under the Public Image umbrella, referring to them as the crucial ‘backbone’ of the committee’s overall work.

Braimah reaffirmed the committee’s unwavering commitment to conveying Rotary’s message with the utmost professionalism and integrity throughout the upcoming year.

He expressed his sincere gratitude to the incoming District Governor and pledged his dedication to leading a successful Public Image year for the district.

‘We are more than ready to ensure the Rotary year 2025/2026 is a successful one’, Braimah said.

The committee heads and their portfolios include: Social Media/Website (Rotarian Oromena Osugo), Humanitarian Reporting Awards (Assistant Governor Isichei Osamgbi), Rotary Day of Service (Past President Kemi Folorunsho), Editorial (Rotarian Muyiwa Akintunde), and Global Rotary Radio (Rotarian David Obadan).
