Residents of Onitsha in Anambra State have commended the aggressive efforts of Governor Soludo’s administration towards infrastructural development in the state, especially road construction.
Speaking over the recent fabricated and syndicated falsehood on a purported washed-off part of the 2.3 kilometres of Ochanja Road, a resident who has a shop owner near the affected spot being sensationalised by certain persons, Mr. Obi Ochendu said the particular part being serialised is less than five metres and falls within a spot still under construction before a heavy rain.
According to him: “The contractor was still working on that portion before the rain. But the quality of work done on the completed portion is of very high quality”.
The state Commissioner for Works And Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma had earlier spoken on the orchestrated viral video, assuring the people of the state of Soludo’s administration’s commitment to quality delivery of infrastructures in the state.
He said that Soludo is making frantic efforts to close the infrastructural gap in the state hence the devotion of his administration in making his promises come true, as evident in the recent projects unveiled in his second anniversary.
In the light of this, Okoma assured the residents of Ochanja that the washed-off portion of the road which is still under construction will be completed soon, against what has been previously circulated in the viral video.
He explained that the road in the viral video was not yet inaugurated by the state government as earlier reported by the trending online reports. “The contractor worked on the road on Sunday and only about one foot from where he stopped was washed off as a result of the heavy rain that blocked drainages in the affected area and it will be completed soon”, he said.
However, an investigation on the issue has shown that the viral video was orchestrated by mischief makers who are bent on truncating the laudable efforts of the state government in making Anambra a comfortable homeland.
It was gathered that the head of the contracting firm, Mr. Mark Tu also expressed shock at the viral video, stating that it was a huge disappointment for some disgruntled persons in the area to initiate such an action, considering the state government’s effort in infrastructural development, surpassing what was expected.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Fegge Landlords Association, Chief Obinwanne Okwudili, as well as some residents and traders applauded the present administration for the quality of roads being constructed in the state.
