In order to sustain peaceful coexistence in the country, the Inter Tribal Traditional Leaders Association of Nigeria (ITTLAN) has called on Nigerians living outside their land of nativity to respect the host communities.
Contrary to reports that Nigerian traders from the North had been sacked from Lobbanta Garke Cattle Market in Umunneochi Local Government Area by the Abia State Government, ITTLAN said that it has found out that the government only clamped down on those carrying out illegal activities in the area.
In a statement, ITTLAN’s National Secretary, Ambassador Ndanusa Yunusa Yakubu clarified that the state government’s order was for all illegal traders in the area irrespective of tribes.
He therefore called on Nigerians to respect their host communities by not engaging in any activity that is inimical to their legitimate businesses.
He advised Nigerians to be wary of their utterances and reactions in order to avoid crisis escalation.
