As part of activities to commemorate 11 years of its existence, the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS} has renovated the 18 toilet facilities at Ebute Elefun Senior Secondary on the Lagos Island.

According to a statement by the association’s Publicity Secretary, Sir Olusina Thorpe, ALARHOSPS President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan said the newly renovated toilets were in bad shape before the intervention.

He said: “While it was observed that the school has a reasonable supply of water, reticulation into both the staff and students toilets had ceased. This adversely affected the functionalities of the toilets. Hence, our swift intervention”.

Ojora-Adejiyan noted that the main essence of the intervention is to improve sanitation and hygiene in the school complex.

He listed the scope of work done to include the removal and replacement of the existing broken, faded loose, and floor tiles, and the replacement of the existing sanitary wares with associated plumbing works, including the repainting of the entire units.

The President revealed that other activities lined up for the celebration of the association’s 11th anniversary, which runs from Wednesday, 16 October to Tuesday, 22 October 2024, include novelty matches, a walk for fitness/health talk, and donation to Old People’s home.

Annually, the association identifies areas of need, especially in the education and health sectors as part of giving back to society.

In the last two years, ALARHOSPS has rehabilitated the Assembly Hall of Epe Grammar School as well as the first primary school in Nigeria – St Thomas, Anglican Primary School in Badagry, amongst many others.

In a related development, the association will be hosting the eighth quarterly meeting of the Southwest Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries with the theme, ‘The South West Zone – the Need for Collaboration, Integration and Co operation’.

The meeting, drawing delegates from the six southwestern states, is to chart a new course for strategic partnerships, synergy, and harmonization for the future development of the zone.
