Rite Foods Limited, Nigeria’s leading food and beverage company, has announced the renewal of its strategic partnership on Rite-on-the-Beach with POP Beach Club, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship, community development, youth empowerment, and educational sustainability.
The Rite-on-the-Beach initiative is a points-based, community-driven plastic recovery and environmental responsibility programme designed to tackle plastic pollution while delivering tangible social value to underserved coastal communities in Lagos State.
The renewed partnership builds on the success of previous programme engagements, which have combined periodic beach clean-up exercises, environmental education, advocacy, and community collaboration to address plastic waste and promote responsible waste management practices across Lagos communities.
On the renewed partnership, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, Mr. Ekuma Eze noted that the initiative reflects the company’s holistic approach to sustainability.
‘At Rite Foods, sustainability goes beyond environmental responsibility; it is about creating shared value for people, communities, and future generations. The renewal of our partnership with POP Beach Club allows us to integrate environmental action with education, youth empowerment, and community development in a practical and measurable way’, he said.
The initiative strongly aligns with Rite Foods Limited’s EYEC sustainability pillars by exchanging recovered plastic waste for school supplies. The programme directly supports learning continuity for children and dependents within participating communities.
Through the partnership, Rite Foods said it would continue to engage the young people as environmental advocates, fostering responsibility, leadership, and awareness around sustainability through structured clean-ups and plastic recovery activities. The partnership, in its overall focus, contributes to cleaner beaches, reduced marine pollution, and a healthier ecosystem.
On the collaboration, the Convener/CEO of POP Beach Club, Mr. Akin Disu said: ‘Our partnership with Rite Foods has shown that environmental action can be impactful, visible, and community-driven. We are committed to deepening the impact and continue to use our space as a platform for social change’.
Since its launch in 2020, the Rite-on-the-Beach initiative has helped influence disposal habits and shape longer-term thinking around community-led environmental stewardship. The programme engages undergraduates through a mix of awareness campaigns, residency, and volunteering activities, building a pipeline of informed young advocates for responsible waste management.
In 2025, the Plastic Free July campaign delivered under the initiative in Lagos translated awareness into action, recording the recovery of over 40 tonnes of plastic within one month. Collectively, the Rite-on-the-Beach Programme is a perfect demonstration of how purposeful partnerships can move plastic pollution beyond isolated clean-ups and position it as a shared responsibility across communities and stakeholders.
