The founding fathers of the Rotary Club of Ikeja have been commended for nurturing and sustaining the club for almost six decades.
This is as the club, which was chartered by Rotary International on 31 August, 1967, decorated two of its major donors at its Foundation Day, held recently at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
At the event, the guest speaker, Past District Governor Kolawole Sodipo, who spoke on “Serving Humanity through Rotary Foundation”, described the Rotary Club of Ikeja as effective, having ticked all the right boxes by sustaining and growing its membership, implementing service projects that address needs of the immediate communities as well as supporting Rotary Foundation through participation and contribution.
He dwelled on the benefits of Rotary Foundation to humanity, adding: ‘The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into projects that change people’s lives and also empowers Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact’.
Two members of the club — Past President Dotun Lampejo and Immediate Past President Kayode Situ — were decorated major donors of The Rotary Foundation.
