The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid an unscheduled visits to some health facilities in the state to monitor compliance with the healthcare palliatives rolled out as part of measures to cushion the harsh economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile on Monday, the governor was on a mission to monitor compliance with the health palliative scheme he declared across the the state-owned General Hospitals.

The health palliative covers the cost of normal pregnancy delivery, Caesarean Section and antenatal care done in state-owned hospitals.

Akosile said the governor “walked quietly into the hospital’s maternity ward where two expectant mothers were being examined” catching the medical personnel unawares.

He noted that a 37-year-old pregnant woman, Omowunmi Odeyemi, who was on admission during the governor’s visit, confirmed that the hospital was complying with the health palliative by providing free healthcare to her.

At Odan, Sanwo-Olu took an audit of facilities in the 10-storey Doctor’s Quarters where Dr. Diaso Vwaere recently died in an elevator.
