Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will today (Wednesday) present the state’s 2024 budget before the House of Assembly.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the Appropriation Bill, which will highlight the details of planned capital projects, recurrent expenditure and anticipated revenue for the fiscal year, will be laid for consideration before the lawmakers.
Omotoso said: “This presentation will follow the over 80 per cent impressive performance of the Y2023 Budget in Capital Expenditure across Q1, Q2 and Q3.
“Expected at the event are representatives of economic, political, cultural and civil society organisations. It will also be beamed live on some television stations”.
On 12th December last year, the assembly approved passed a total of N1.8 trillion (₦1,768,014,155,285) as the budget for 2023 with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa thanking his colleagues for their collective sacrifice and the swiftness with which the Appropriation Bill was handled.
On 31st October, the House amended the Appropriation Law of 2023 to authorise the re-ordering of N761,218,455,055.
The reordering was sequel to the letter sent to the House by the governor.
The House approved the reordering after the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Lukman Olumoh presented the report and recommendations of the committee, which were adopted as the resolution of the parliament.
