Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking the development of infrastructure through investment in the digital talent ecosystem.
At the 13th Annual IT Summit and Award of the state chapter of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Sanwo-Olu said that the government would support the application of technology to create opportunities and enhance socio-economic growth in the state.
The Governor, represented by the Special Adviser on Innovation and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake said that investing in digital training would enhance the State’s Smart City project and optimise the limitless opportunities of a fully digitised economy.
In his intervention, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hakeem Fahm said the state places a high premium on the 6,000 fibre optic cable, aimed at improving access to functional, efficient and affordable internet service.
Meanwhile, RadioLagos/EkoFM has been awarded the Most Innovative Digital Radio Station of 2022 in Information Technology by the state chapter of the Nigeria Computer Society.
Receiving the award on behalf of the station at the event, the General Manager, Jide Lawal appreciated the society for the honour and thanked the Sanwo-Olu administration for the feat through its constant support to the radio stations.
Lawal promised that the stations would continue to improve on Information Technology towards the attainment of its mandate in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the state government.
T.H.E.M.E.S, the developmental agenda for Greater Lagos, represents the six-pillar development plan of the Sanwo-Olu administration. It stands for Traffic Management and Transportation; Health and Environment; Education and Technology; Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy; Entertainment and Tourism; and Security and Governance.
Earlier, the state chapter chairman of NCS, Kunle Oladipupo said the award was to celebrate the outstanding radio station that made a professional impact on ICT.
He said: “The award was in recognition of the RadioLagos/EkoFM’s excellent contributions to the growth of ICT in Lagos State”.
