The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled its suspended National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam; and National Youth Leader, Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu from office.
The party also relieved Mr. Clarkson Nnadi of his position as National Auditor, basing the decision on his letter of voluntary resignation, which he was said to have written to the National Working Committee (NWC), through the Acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe.
SDP also expelled Comrade Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Alhaji Abubakar Dogara, Mr. Nuraddeen Bisalla, Mr. Solsuema Osaro, Dr. Ambo Ekpeyong, Mr. Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Mr. Humphrey Unwukaeze and Miss Judith Israel Shuaibu as its members.
Among those who signed the resolutions of the NWC were the Acting National Chairman, Gombe; Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Ugochukwu Uba, National Secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye; National Legal Adviser, Barrister Aderemi Abimbola; National Organising Secretary, Barrister Joseph Achile Abu; and National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba.
Others are: National Treasurer, Hajia Maggie Mariam Batubo; National Financial Secretary, Mr. Bello Ado Hussaini; National Woman Leader, Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdullahi; National Labour/Civil Society Secretary, Mrs. Rosemary A. Effiong; and National Leader (People with Disability), Chief Lekan Alabi.
Gabam, Chukwuma and Nnadi had earlier been ‘suspended on grounds of the prima facie case of misconduct, financial misappropriation, malfeasance and fraudulent activities, gross abuse of office, among other infractions and contraventions of the party’s constitution against them’.
In a statement on Friday, the NWC said that, on 4 July, this year, it placed Gabam, Uchechukwu and Nnadi on suspension ‘on grounds of the prima facie case of misconduct, financial misappropriation, malfeasance and fraudulent activities, gross abuse of office, among other infractions and contraventions of the party’s Constitution against them’.
According to SDP, upon receiving the report of its disciplinary committee on 18 July, it set up an internal subcommittee to study the findings and recommendations, which in turn submitted a White Paper to the NWC on 15 August.
SDP said that it went further to consider another report, which allegedly detailed how ‘some nonconforming and disloyal’ members of the party gained ‘unlawful entry by force’ into the National Secretariat of the party in Wuse II, Abuja in the early hours of Monday, 28 July 2025 and were ‘caught in the act by the law enforcement agencies’.
According to the SDP, ‘these daring intruders were arrested and detained along with burgled items found in their possession including sensitive official documents and valuables carted from the SDP secretariat and are currently answering to their crimes in a court of law on arraignment against them by the Nigeria Police’.
‘Other recommendations of the White Paper on administrative safeguards, measures, and procedures will be implemented administratively in moving the Party forward’, the statement further read.
