A private security guard identified as John Danjuma has allegedly butchered his former employer at her residence in the GRA axis of Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
It was gathered that Danjuma was earlier arrested and is standing trial for allegedly stealing $10,000 (about N7.37 million) from the woman simply identified as Boma.
Though he denied stealing the money, he was said to have been granted bail and the case adjourned to a later date for continuation of hearing.
Meanwhile, a viral video has surfaced where Danjuma narrated the misunderstanding he had with the woman while being interrogated by policemen at the State Criminal and Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.
From the video seen by our correspondent, Danjuma decided to visit the residence of his former boss in the wee hours of the morning ahead of the next court hearing of the case fixed for Friday, 12th May 2023.
After finding his way into the compound, he destroyed the kitchen protector in order to gain access into the main building and hid himself there to perfect his sinister motive.
The security guard then reached for a machete he found at his hiding place (kitchen), waited till it was raining then went to his former boss who he found in one of the rooms and butchered her.
After committing the crime, he left the woman sprawling on the floor in a pool of blood while he stole some of her jewellery.
However, in his attempt to escape, luck ran out of him, as neighbours raised alarm as they accosted him, seeing blood stains all over his body as he was leaving the building.
It was gathered that the incident created a chaotic situation leading to his arrest.
Danjuma, while being interrogated by the operatives confessed to the crime, claiming that the woman was prosecuting him in court after accusing him of stealing her money, about $10 000.
He said: “Me and she are having issues and this woman is prosecuting me in court and our case is coming up next tomorrow (Friday)
They accuse me of stealing $10, 000. But I did not steal the money”.
At this point one of the operatives as seen in the video interjected saying, “Court granted you bail is that not?
“Now you know that you did not steal the money, why should you go back to her house that early morning to take her life. So, you have killed her”?
Danjuma in response admitted that he killed the woman, saying,” Yes, she is dead. She is dead, I won’t lie”.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and the arrest of Danjuma.
She further said the matter was still being investigated.
“Yes, the command is aware of the incident. The suspect has been arrested and the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department”, she stated.
