No fewer than 11 suspected members of a militia group commonly referred to as Kalare Boys in Gombe State have been arrested by operatives attached to Operation Hattara.
Policemen and operatives of other security agencies are attached to Operation Hattara working to ensure peaceful co-existence within the metropolis.
According to a statement on Thursday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Mahid Abubakar, the suspects were arrested at the Tudun-Wada and Checheniya quarters.
The statement listed the suspects to include Abdullahi Saleh, Yusuf Shitu, Musa Saleh, Usman Suleiman, Ahmed Alhassan and Aliyu Yakubu.
Others are Sadiq Adamu, Dauda Ibrahim, Haruna Mohammed, Salim Abubakar, and Abdulsalam Rabi’u.
Abubakar said, “On 30th May 2023, residents of Pantami, Malam-inna, Tudun-Wada and Checheniya areas of Gombe metropolis reported at the office of Operation Hattara that some groups of boys suspected to be Kalare Boys were terrorising people and carrying out nefarious activities in their neighbourhood.
“On receipt of the complaint, Operation Hattara swung into action and stormed the criminal hideouts at different locations where they successfully arrested the above-mentioned suspects who confessed to having participated in such acts.
“The case will soon be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation for possible prosecution. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include seven cutlasses and three knives”.
