Shettima, Obasanjo, Atiku attend Kwankwaso, Mangal’s children’s wedding

The ancient city of Kano yesterday witnessed an extraordinary gathering of top serving and former Nigerian leaders, captains of industry, diplomats, business moguls and high political chieftains for the historic wedding fatiha of Aisha, daughter of the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, and Fahad, son of Katsina business mogul, Dahiru Mangal, in the ancient city of Kano on Saturday.

Vice President Kashim Shettima who represented President Bola Tinubu, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and former vice president Atiku Abubakar were among the numerous dignitaries that graced the wedding.

Official tying of the knot took place at Kofar Kudu Palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, while reception was held at Government House.

Chief Imam of Kano State, Sani Zahradeen, performed the solemnisation after the sum of N1 million was paid as bride price.

Shettima, who stood in for the groom, handed the N1 million bride price to Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, who represented the bride.

Other dignitaries at the event included Katsina State Governor Umar Radda; Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; former presidents of the Senate, David Mark and Bukola Saraki and former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi.

Others were former Sokoto State governor, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Minister Ali Pantami; Sen. Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari; former Governor of Zamfara State, Sen. Abdul Ahmed Ningi; former Governor Kebbi State, Adamu Aliero; former governors Lucky Igbinedion, Mahamud Shinkafi, Isah Yuguda, Victor Attah and Achike Udenwa.

OBJ in Kwankwasiyya red cap

Obasanjo wore the red cap symbol of the Kwankwassiya Movement to show solidarity with the leader of the movement, Kwankwaso. He also Obasanjo wore a white garment to match the signature dressing of members of the movement.

Many tongues were left wagging after the event on Saturday as to whether this was a political statement or just a social way of identifying with the former Kano governor,.

Kwankwaso’s gratitude

Kwankwaso expressed his deepest appreciation to everyone who graced the wedding, sending special thanks to President Tinubu, VP Shettima, Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar and Abbas.
