Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has said that his administration is working hard to ensure a crime-free state by providing adequate security for the people and investors, as one of its five solution agenda.
Soludo asserted that, while delivering on the state’s five key agenda which revolves around Security, Law and Order; Infrastructure and Economic Transformation; Human Capital and Social Agenda; Governance and Value System; and Environment, the security of the citizens is paramount to his administration, as it ensures the attainment of the state’s economic and transformational objectives.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, the governor said that the state government is doing its best, rejigging and strengthening the security architecture that would make the place peaceful for habitation and for businesses to thrive.
“Ndi Anambra will fully experience our zero tolerance to criminality. Together as a people, we must bond together to defeat the criminals among us”, Soludo stated.
This was part of the governor’s commitment to the state when he presented the 2025 budget proposal of over N606.99 billion to the state House of Assembly, in Awka, the state capital, with a 48 per cent increase from the 2024 budget of about N410.13 billion.
The budget christened, ‘Changing Gears 2.0’ with emphasis on acceleration and execution, has recurrent expenditures of N139.5 billion (Year-on-Year growth of 45.0 per cent), while capital expenditure is N467.5 billion (Growth of 48.9 per cent). The capital expenditure constitutes 77 per cent of the total budget size, while recurrent expenditure accounts for 23 per cent (the same ratio for the 2024 budget). The budget deficit is estimated at N148.3 billion (24 per cent of the budget compared to 30 per cent the 2024 budget).
The 2025 budget proposal highlights Soludo’s focal points, which will accelerate the needed growth in the various sectors of the state economy.
On road infrastructure, Soludo said that existing projects would be completed, while new ones are being initiated, with approximately 310 kilometres already asphalted in 30 months, with unparalleled quality.
He said that the Ekwulobia flyover and bus terminal are nearing completion, while the dualisation of the 34-kilometre federal highway from Amawbia through Agulu, Ekwulobia, and Uga to the Imo State border, as well as the dualisation of 36 kilometres from Nwagu Agulu-Nnobi- Nnewi, Ozubulu to Okija, linking to the Onitsha-Owerri highway, is a game changer.
