Controversial musician Speed Darlington has sparked outrage after mocking hotel workers who were made to clean a blood-stained bedsheet following his rape of a 15-year-old girl.

During an Instagram live session, Darlington admitted he paid hotel staff to change the soiled sheet, making light of the disturbing incident.

‘Before they could come change the sheets for me, I had to give them N2,000 because the thing, owe ka odi (there’s a way it was)’, he said.

He went on to boast that such tasks are why he refuses to work under anyone.

‘You’ll now tell a man to come and clean blood that I removed from a 15-year-old child’, the singer said in Igbo language. ‘I can never work for anyone’.

‘I’ll come and work in a hotel; someone will now tell me to wash the bed sheet with blood’.

The singer revealed that the last time he worked for someone was 10 years ago at a restaurant, where he took up a hospitality job before launching his music career.

Some Instagram users who found his video disturbing took to his comment section to criticise him.

A user, Omalicha_uc_, said, ‘You admitted that you slept with a 15-year-old girl. It’s against the law, and underage girl, Speedy’.

Iam_emoult said, ‘Hopefully, police arrest you, and you spend a very very good number of years in jail; okwa, 15 years old. No problem, you will explain that video’.

Another user said, ‘You say you sleep with a 15-year-old? You suppose dey jail like this. You be real tozo, you no get level at all, and if you go carry waka body go tell you!’

The Nigerian Child Rights Act (2003) prohibits sexual activity with anyone below the age of 18.

Section 31 of the Child Rights Act (2003) provides that ‘(1) No person shall have sexual intercourse with a child. (2)A person who contravenes the provision of subsection (1) of this section commits an offence of rape and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for life. (2) Where a person is charged with an offence under this section, it is immaterial that:

‘The offender believed the person to be of or above the age of eighteen years, or the sexual intercourse was with the consent of the child.
