There has been a large turnout of eligible voters in the ongoing supplementary elections at the affected polling units in two Federal Constituencies in Oyo State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed 15th April for the conduct of fresh election in two polling units in Oluyole federal constituency, and three each in both Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East local government areas of the state over reported infractions.
The infractions necessitated the inability of the commission to declare winners in the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Newsmen, who went around to monitor the exercise, observed that it was violence-free, and there was a heavy presence of security agents comprising Nigeria Police, Nigeria Army, Department of State Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and some paramilitary agencies.
Meanwhile, the state INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner, Adeniran Tella and his team also monitored the affected polling units with a view to ensuring the functionality of the use of the Bimodal Verification and Accreditation System.
Speaking on a change of election venue at Idu, Tella explained that the action became imperative for security purposes.
He, therefore, expressed satisfaction with the functionality of the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, noting that the exercise has been relatively peaceful.
