Suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa is currently in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
It was learnt that Bawa arrived the headquarters of DSS at about 9:02 pm on Wednesday, and grilled by the operatives of the secret police.
Spokesman of the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya confirmed Bawa’s presence in a statement.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“Bawa arrived a few hours ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him”, Afunanya said in terse statement.
On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu suspended Bawa from office indefinitely. He also ordered a probe into the EFCC helmsman’s activities.
The presidential directive said the President’s action on Bawa followed allegations levelled against him.
He was directed to hand affairs of the commission over to the Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, who will oversee the affairs of the office of the EFCC Chairman.
Bawa’s predecessor Ibrahim Magu was controversially removed from office.
