Former Chelsea star Chris Sutton has urged Arsenal to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke instead of Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Arsenal have been linked with both Toney and Solanke this January transfer window.
However, Sutton believes Solanke would be a better option for Mikel Arteta’s side, given his form for Bournemouth this season.
“How can you be certain Ivan Toney would come in and hit the ground running? He has not played,” Sutton told BBC.
“Ivan Toney has proven himself as a really accomplished striker, but if Arsenal sign him, that doesn’t guarantee they will win the league.”
He continued: “Solanke, Dominic Solanke, at this moment in time, I think he’s a brilliant all-round striker; at this moment in time, if I had to pick Solanke or Toney, I would pick Solanke just because he’s in a bit of rhythm, he leads the line, and you don’t know what you will get from Toney; that is too much of a risk at this moment in time”.
