The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has called on the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to press her husband, President Bola Tinubu, to address urgent issues like hunger, starvation, and insecurity plaguing the country.

The emir made the plea when President Tinubu’s wife visited him in Kano on Monday

“Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, your way and means is the surest way to tell the President the actual happenings in the country”, Bayero, who spoke through an interpreter, told the First Lady.

The monarch said the hunger crisis “has become more alarming and needs urgent attention.”

He also urged the President’s wife to push the president to tackle escalating insecurity.

“The issue of insecurity is another serious problem we are facing. I know your government inherited it, but something more serious should be done to take care of the threats”, the Emir stated.

He also voiced concerns over the Federal Government’s plan to relocate offices of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Central Bank of Nigeria from Abuja to Lagos.

“We should be made to actually understand the reasons behind the relocation. I for one cannot tell the actual intentions of the government”, Bayero said.

He called on the government to “come out clean” and clearly explain the rationale behind the relocations.

The Emir also advised the First Lady to push forward her Renewed Hope Initiative Pet Programme, which aims to empower underprivileged Nigerians.

On 6th February, Tinubu condemned a weekend attack in Zamfara and Kano States, where bandits went on the rampage.

A divisional police officer, an inspector, and a vigilante were reportedly killed during the attack in Maru Local Government of Zamfara State.

Similarly, in Kano State, unknown gunmen broke into the residence of a village head and killed him in cold blood.
