The President, in a personally signed statement released on Thursday, extended his felicitations to Nigerian Muslims and the global Ummah, highlighting the profound significance of the sacred festival and urging citizens to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, devotion, and compassion.
“Eid-el-Kabir represents the high point of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, a period filled with opportunities for acts of worship and good deeds,” President Tinubu stated. “It is a time for gratitude to Almighty Allah for His countless mercies upon us as individuals and as a nation.”
Addressing the nation’s economic landscape and the impact of recent reforms, President Tinubu acknowledged the hardships many Nigerians have endured. However, he emphatically stressed that brighter days are on the horizon.
“Though the journey has not been easy, and some doubted our direction, the resilience of public and private sector leaders, along with the steadfast support of most Nigerians, is yielding results,” he affirmed. “I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity that we promised two years ago.”
The President reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to long-term transformation through bold economic policies. He noted that while immediate results might not always be evident, fundamental structural changes are actively underway to ensure sustainable growth for the Nigerian economy.
“There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all,” Tinubu declared. “We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere.”
In a poignant display of empathy, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the recent devastating flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, which tragically claimed lives and caused significant property damage. He urged Nigerians to offer prayers and support to those affected and to actively assist government relief efforts.
“As we celebrate today, remember that Eid-el-Kabir enjoins love, compassion, and generosity for all, regardless of faith or background. Let us care for one another’s well-being during this season and always,” he counselled.
The President concluded his impactful message with a powerful call for national unity and fervent prayers for Nigeria’s dedicated security personnel and leaders, as well as for peace to prevail across the nation and the world.
“May the joy and blessings of Eid-ul-Adha multiply in our lives and the life of our great nation. May Almighty Allah accept our worship and devotion as acts of Ibadah, and may His blessings be with us always,” Tinubu concluded.
