President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his fresh term in office.
Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, was sworn earlier on Monday in Akure, the state capital.
Akeredolu died of leukaemia and prostate cancer on 27 December 2023.
His former deputy, Aiyedatiwa won last November’s governorship election beating his closest rival, Chief Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party.
President Tinubu urged him to use his overwhelming mandate to serve the good people of the state and build on the legacy of his illustrious predecessor, Akeredolu, who died in office, by expanding economic opportunities, reducing poverty, improving security, and providing critical infrastructure.
The President said: ‘I congratulate you for your successful inauguration today for a new term of office after an outstanding run in the last governorship election in Ondo State.
You have a rare privilege to succeed your illustrious predecessor, who worked for the growth and development of the state and advanced the progress of Nigeria as a whole. Having been sworn in today for a fresh term in office, I urge you to work in the best interest of the people of the state and our country as a whole. I will be your partner in progress to usher in a new era of prosperity to the people of Ondo State’.
