Tinubu hailed for appointing polio survivor to head PWDs Commission

A member of the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee, Tolu Bankole, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing Ayuba Gufwan as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

His appreciation comes barely 24 hours after the presidency announced the appointment of the polio survivor and founder of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre.

Bankole, the ruling party’s national leader saddled with the responsibility of attending to PWD matters, further disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday that he looks forward to working with him.

According to the NWC member, the appointment was a testament to Gufwan’s unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to the disability community.

He said, “With extensive experience as the Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos, along with his academic credentials, Gufwan is uniquely equipped to lead the Commission. His leadership has been instrumental in advocating for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities, and his appointment promises continued progress in this vital area.

“This appointment is not only a recognition of Gufwan’s personal and professional accomplishments but also a significant step forward for the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities. His leadership is expected to drive further advancements in the rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities across the nation.”

He added, “I would also like to use this opportunity to commend President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing interventions and support for persons with disabilities. His commitment to inclusivity and empowerment has been evident through various initiatives, and this appointment reflects his dedication to ensuring that the needs and rights of persons with disabilities are prioritized.

“I look forward to collaborating withcGufwan to ensure that the rights and needs of persons with disabilities are effectively addressed. We are confident that his tenure will bring significant positive changes to the Commission and the community it serves. We wish him success as he embarks on this important national service.”
