Tinubu holds meeting with new service chiefs

President Bola Tinubu had a meeting with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.

Last Friday, the President had made sweeping changes in the military leadership, dropping the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla. while the erstwhile Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede was elevated to CDS.

The Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General Emmanuel Parker Undiendeye however retains his position.

The Presidency explained that the move was part of efforts to strengthen the national security architecture.

Major General Waidi Shaibu was appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshall Sunday Kelvin Aneke was named Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas was appointed as Chief of Naval Staff.
