President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to rescue the remaining female students of the Federal University, Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, who were recently abducted by terrorists.
Condemning the reprehensible act of abduction, the President said that there is no moral justification for such a heinous act against innocent victims whose only “offence” was their pursuit of quality education.
President Tinubu said that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return.
The President further pledged that the Federal Government is determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, and totally free from the menacing acts of terrorists.
Bandits kidnapped over 20 students of the school in the early hours of Friday.
An indigene of Sabon Gida village, Abubakar Sani said that the bandits, who were in large numbers, stormed the students’ off-campus residences in the village. He said the students abducted were mostly females.
Sani said the bandits invaded the area around 4 am where they attacked three students’ hostels.
He said: “Many of the kidnapped students were females, while other students were able to escape to the bush”.
