The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms (FPTR), Mr. Taiwo Oyedele has been nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the Minister of State for Finance.
If cleared by the Senate, he will replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who has been moved to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, as the Minister of State, her third portfolio in the administration.
Upon the constitution of the federal cabinet in August 2023, Uzoka-Anite was named the Minister of Industry, Trade and Industry and was posted to the Ministry of Finance as Minister of State on 2 November 2024.
On Tuesday, President Tinubu conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter to the Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Oyedele’s FPTR overhauled the country’s tax system.
A native of Ikaram- Akoko in Ondo State, 50-year-old Oyedele is an economist, accountant and public policy expert.
He attended Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance, and Oxford Brookes University, where he earned a BSc in Applied Accounting.
He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Oyedele spent 22 years of his working career at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to become the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
He is also a Professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
