Tinubu-Ojo launches scholarship scheme for 1000 varsity students in C/River

The daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Mrs Folasade Tinubu-Ojo has unveiled a scholarship scheme for over 1,000 indigent students seeking admission in Havilla University in Cross River.

The President’s daughter unveiled the scheme on Tuesday in commemoration of her second anniversary as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Havilla University.

She said that the scheme would be ‘tuition-free award’, valued at N400,000 for each students and would cover from the 2025/2026 academy session.

Tinubu-Ojo, who is the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, stated that the initiative reflected her commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement.

She described education as ‘the only leveler between the rich and the poor in society’.

She emphasised that every Nigerian youth deserved access to quality education to ensure a brighter future for the nation.

She commended the institution’s Chancellor, Jones Tangban, for his exceptional leadership, which had ranked the university among Africa’s leading university.

The Iyaloja-General urged prospective beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with all seriousness now and in the near future.

In his remarks, Tangban commeneded Tinubu-Ojo for her generosity, noting that her gesture aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration, even though the scholarships are personally funded.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu-Ojo had earlier inaugurated the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Complex of the institution.

She also laid the foundation for the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Centre for Vocational Studies at the University grounds to further strengthen her legacy in educational development.
