President Bola Tinubu has re-appointed Dr. Olugbenga Adekile Owoeye as the Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, effective 1 June 2025.
According to a statement by the Director of Administration of the hospital, Dr. Adeyinka Antwi, this will be Owoeye’s second and final term of four years each in office.
Owoeye, who is currently the most Senior Consultant in the hospital with over two decades in service, graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State as a medical doctor in 1994. He qualified as a psychiatrist in 2003 and obtained his Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Lagos in 2005 and 2009 respectively.
He is a member of several distinguished professional associations including the Nigerian Medical Association, the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria, the Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria, the Nigerian Psychological Association, the Nigerian Institute of Management and the International Certified Addiction Professional.
Owoeye, who has won many grants, has over 30 publications and a book to his credit. He has attended several trainings and conferences both locally and internationally.
Married with children, Owoeye has taken active part in the general and clinical development of mental heath in Nigeria through training, management, membership and chairmanship of several strategic committees aimed at meeting the mental health professional and management goals in offering excellent service to the nation and humanity.
