The Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development has now been restored with Engr. Abubakar Momoh, formerly Minister-designate for Youth, now redeployed by President Bola Tinubu to take charge of that Ministry.

This development was contained in a statement on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale.

“The Federal Ministry of Youth is to be re-assigned to a Minister-designate soon”, presidential spokesman said.

The statement also announced other changes in the ministerial list released last Wednesday. The ministers-designate are to be inaugurated tomorrow (Monday).

There had been some concerns about the suspected scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta, which was created in September 2008.

Ngelale said that the Federal Ministry of Youth is to be re-assigned to a Minister-designate soon.

By the new arrangement, former Governor of Osun State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola moves from the Ministry of Transportation to that of Marine and Blue Economy; while the former Minister-designate of Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo takes over the Ministry of Interior.

Senator Sa’idu Alkali, who was designated for the Ministry of Interior is redeployed to the Ministry of Transportation.

Two other Ministers-designate were also re-designated. Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, former named Minister of State (Petroleum) is now Minister of State (Oil), while Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo is no longer Minister of State (Gas Resources), but Minister of State (Gas).

The statement said both Ministers of State “are now domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources”.

The President also approved the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as the Federal Ministry of Environment.

The President also redeployed another minister-designate, Abubakar Momoh, from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
