President Bola Tinubu has declared that the nation’s economic suffering is now a thing of the past.

He stated this on Friday at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, during the historic coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The President’s address was a blend of felicitations for the new monarch and a hopeful message for the populace.

He asserted that the economy has ‘turned a corner’ and that a ‘bright light is at the end of the tunnel’.

President Tinubu said he was thanking the public for their perseverance and endurance.

‘Your suffering has been as painful to us as a painful surgery. But the economy has now returned to a moment of growth and prosperity’, thr President said.

His remarks came during the installation of Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, who ascended the throne after a 32-year progression through the city’s traditional chieftaincy system.

President Tinubu said: ‘Kabiyesi, happy birthday to you once again. Today, I am honoured and feel very proud to give you the cheering news that the economy has turned a corner. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

‘Your suffering has been as painful to us as a painful surgery. But the economy has now returned to a moment of growth and prosperity. Thank you for your perseverance, and thank you for your endurance.

‘Let me also salute the renowned businessman, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on the occasion of your coronation’.

The coronation was a landmark event that drew thousands of people to the ancient city.

The ceremony also served as a moment for the President to acknowledge the support he received from the people of Ibadan during his presidential campaign.

‘I once came to Oke Mopo to seek your support to tell you, emi lo’kan (it’s my turn), and now we are there. Thank you very much’, he said, recalling his famous campaign slogan.

‘It is a privilege for me, as President, to witness your coronation and all the things you’ve started, the expectations, and the history we share together as you ascend the throne of your forebears’, he added.

Ladoja’s ascension is widely seen as a significant event, as he is the first former governor of the state to become Olubadan.

His coronation solidifies his position as both a political and traditional leader, bridging the gap between modern governance and ancient customs.
