The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has announced partial road closures across major parts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday as President Bola Tinubu commissions critical infrastructure projects.
Urging motorists to plan and avoid the affected routes, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said in a statement on Tuesday that traffic would be impacted around the Opebi-Allen, Ikeja and Ojota corridors between 9 am and 1 pm on Wednesday.
On Thursday, traffic disruptions are expected in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle between 9 am and 1 pm due to the commissioning of the Tolu Schools complex.
Later that day, motorists are advised to avoid routes around Victoria Island and the Eko Hotel, between 4 pm and 7 pm, where another event will take place.
On Monday, the state government announced the deployment of 500 additional officers of the state’s traffic management authority for the events, which would have President Tinubu in attendance.
The President Tinubu is expected to commission six major projects during the two-day window, including the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) building, Lagos Multi-Agency Building in Alausa, Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo, Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, and Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle.
The government urged road users to cooperate fully with officials, follow traffic instructions, and allow extra time for their journeys during the events.
