This season’s UEFA Champions League knockout phase draw has placed record title holders Real Madrid (Spain) against Portuguese side Benfica (Portugal), while an all-French fixture have defending champions PSG facing AS Monaco.
The draw, held on Friday at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, also has the only English side in the playoff, Newcastle pitched against Azerbaijan’s Qarabağ FK, while last year’s finalists Internazionale Milano (Italy) will be challenging FK Bodø/Glimt (Norway).
German team Borussia Dortmund will square up with Italy’s Atalanta, Galatasaray will be taking on Juventus (Italy), Club Brugge (Belgium) versus Spain’s Atlético Madrid and Olympiakos (Greece) will face Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen.
The first leg will be place on 17 and 18 February with the return fixtures on 24 and 25 February.
In the Round of 16, scheduled for 10 and 11 March and 17 and 18 March, it will be Barcelona or Chelsea v AS Monaco or PSG, Liverpool/Tottenham v Galatasaray/Juventus, Sporting CP/Manchester City v Benfica/Real Madrid, Arsenal/Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund/Atalanta, Chelsea/Barcelona v Qarabağ FK/Newcastle, Tottenham/Liverpool v Club Brugge/Atlético Madrid, Manchester City/Sporting v FK Bodø/Glimt/Internazionale Milano and Bayern München/Arsenal v Olympiakos v Bayer Leverkusen.
