Top 7 contestants emerge in Bigi-sponsored Nigerian Idol

It was indeed an entertaining holiday for families and music lovers all as the top 7 contestants of the Nigerian Idol Season 7, sponsored by Bigi, personified the theatrical elements in their electrifying performances at the Live Show on Sunday.

Themed the Show-stopper, he magnitude of the show could not be over-emphasised as the host, IK Osakioduwa revealed that the top 8 contestants received a groundbreaking record of 20 million votes.

Despite the record-breaking votes from fans and music lovers across the country, the Nigerian Idol journey ended for Debby as she received the least votes, halting her most impressive run in the show, and creating a competitive week for the top 7 contestants in the well-liked musical talent platform.

Ice Prince is the guest judge while Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau (better known as Kaffy) is the dance instructor.

It was exhilarating as the top contestants performed their renditions with professional dancers on the live stage. David Oprah opens the floor with his rendition of Burna Boy’s Wonderful.

Banty continued her impressive run in the competition with an astonishing performance of Burno Mars Finesse, leaving the judges amazed throughout.

Zadok’s rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Want to Dance with You’ was outstanding, and the synergy between the vocal assignment and his dance moves confirmed that he is not just a singer but a true performer.

Progress won the night with the song Bang Bang, by Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj, which Simi applauded as a fantastic performance. He thrilled marvelously and the judges expressed their feelings with a standing ovation and an uproar of excitement from his fans.

Jordan’s performance of Titanium, by David Guetta feat Sia was amazing such that the duo of judges Simi and Obi Asika spoke glowingly about vocals and how well the contestant’s talent had developed.

Faith broke the ice with her rendition of Tiwa Savage’s Koroba, which had everyone, including the judges, spellbound and wondering whether Tiwa herself groomed her for the show, an impressive appearance that kept Simi astonished , particularly with the quality of her tone.

Consequently, 17-year-old Itohan delivered a mind-blowing gig of Rihanna’s Only Girl (In the World). Her performance, particularly her sonorous voice, wowed the judges and fans in the show which will see the winner clinching N100 million worth of prizes, including a recording deal from a label, a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle, cash prizes, and other exciting gifts.

The show, which is proudly powered by the 13 Bigi variants of carbonated soft drink brands that have set the pace in Nigeria’s beverage industry, is aired on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151), Africa Magic Urban (DStv channel 153, and GOtv Supa channel 6) and Africa Magic Family (DStv channel 154 and GOtv channel 2).
