Popular microblogging platform, Twitter on Monday removed the verification tag attached to the account of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
The special verification tag is designed for government officials.
As at press time, it was observed that Osinbajo’s tag has been removed. However the one on the account of the former President Muhammadu Buhari remained.
Osinbajo and his principal, Buhari, handed over to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration earlier today.
Since Elon Musk took over ownership of Twitter, he changed the rules surrounding verification badges and offered them to anyone willing to pay the $8 subscription fee, with the exception of accounts belonging to organisations, government officials, and selected celebrities and public figures.
