Professionals in Edo State have been advised to ensure regular participation in sports, to keep fit and maintain healthy lifestyles.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Professor Darlington Obaseki, gave the advice during the official inauguration of a 500-seater stadium in the hospital.
Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, represented by his Chief of Staff, Osaigbovo Iyoha, officially inaugurated the mini-stadium, when he led some invited guests present on inspection of facilities at the hospital.
Iyoha commended the UBTH CMD for his passion for sports development
The UBTH CMD said the CMD Inter-Professional Football Competition, is geared towards encouraging professionals on the need to keep fit.
Some of the guests, which included the Managing Director, of Independent Television and Radio, Engineer Elvis Obaseki, said the facility will be very useful, even to people outside the hospital, praising the initiative of the UBTH CMD
The finals of the seventh edition of the CMD Inter-Professional Football Competition, which took place at the newly-inaugurated stadium saw NMA FC emerging champions by defeating the defending champions, NNPC FC, by four goals to nil, with NMA forward, Reuben Mker, scoring a hat-trick.
Highpoints of the event was the cutting of birthday cake by the UBTH CMD and the presentation of an award by the Edo State Football Association to the celebrant.
