Civil servants in Oyo State have vowed to continue with their protest until Governor Seyi Makinde addresses them.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Kayode Martins said that, although the governor had set up a committee on subsidy removal palliatives eight weeks ago, the committee had not met on the assignment.
Martins, who was supported by the President of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi, who was also at the protest. said workers in the state workers were complying with the directive of its national body to stage the protest.
“The cost of living has become unbearable for the people of Oyo State and Nigeria in general. We in Oyo State have a number of issues that we are protesting against, among which are unremitted deductions of staff cooperative loans, car and housing loans, unpaid promotion arrears, upward review of pensions, and leave bonuses”, he said.
