Wike, Ortom, others pay condolence visit to Makinde in Ibadan

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, alongside former Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, paid a condolence visit to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, following the passing of his elder brother, Sunday.

Sunday Makinde died on Friday,  24 January 2025 at 65.

Wike arrived at Makinde’s residence in the Ikolaba Government Reservation Area of Ibadan, the state capital, on Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by Ortom and other dignitaries.

Makinde, Wike, Ortom and the then Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi fell out with their party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate for the 2023 election. Wike, who lost the PDP to Atiku, openly backed APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who eventually won the election, and appointed him into his cabinet.
