President Bola Tinubu has attributed the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to its minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike.

In four of the area councils where results had been declared, APC won three chairmanship seats, leaving one for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of which Wike is a key member.

APC produced the chairmen and majority of the councillors in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Bwari and Kwali, while PDP won the chairmanship in Gwagwalada area council.

The results of Abaji and Kuje area council are being awaited.

President Tinubu commended Wike for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which, he said, yielded political dividends to APC.

The party also won the state assembly bye-elections in Kano and Rivers States. Elections were conducted in Ungogo and Kano Municipal state constituencies of Kano State; and Ahoada East state constituency II and Khana state constituency II of Rivers State, with the four seats won by APC candidates.

The President congratulated the winners of Saturday’s elections in the FCT and in Kano and Rivers States.

He also congratulated the party’s leaderships at the national, and in those states, and APC members on the victories at the polls.

According to a statement on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the winners to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication and to view the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust.

He lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections.

He further commended the courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants, stating that democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition.

President Tinubu affirmed that the successful conduct of the elections further strengthens democratic culture and institutions and calls on INEC to continue improving its efforts to deliver even more exemplary electoral processes.
