A quiet farming settlement in the Barki Abdullahi (BAD) community of Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, was thrown into panic on Saturday after suspected Fulani herdsmen launched an attack that left a woman with her hand severed.

The assailants, who have yet to be identified, reportedly ambushed farmers working on their fields, inflicting severe injuries on several residents.

The woman, whose hand was chopped off with a machete, was among those rushed to a nearby clinic for emergency treatment.

A community resident, who gave his name as Esla, confirmed the incident and described it as ‘heartbreaking and unprovoked’.

He called on security agencies to act swiftly and ensure the attackers are arrested before the situation escalates.

Esla added that fear has now enveloped the entire community, with residents worried about further attacks.

He appealed to the government to urgently deploy security personnel to protect lives and property and restore a sense of safety to the area.

As of the time of this report, authorities are yet to make any statement on the issue.
