In recognition of World Health Day, SUNU Health Nigeria Limited, a leading Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) in the region, stands at the forefront of advocating for universal access to quality healthcare.

Accredited by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), SUNU Health Nigeria is a member of SUNU Group, which has a presence in 17 African countries with 37 companies.

According to the WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All, a minimum of 140 countries acknowledges health as a fundamental human right enshrined within their constitutions. However, despite this recognition, many nations fail to enact and enforce legislation guaranteeing their citizens access to healthcare services. Consequently, it underscores the reality that in 2021, at least 4.5 billion individuals, representing over half of the global population, lacked comprehensive coverage of essential health services.

In response to these challenges, and in accordance with annual tradition, the global community commemorates World Health Day on 7th April 2024. This year’s theme, ‘My Health, My Right,’ resonates as a poignant reminder for individuals worldwide to prioritize their health and assert their entitlement to quality healthcare services.

Managing Director of SUNU Health Nigeria, Dr. Patrick Korie reiterated the company’s firm belief in the principle of ‘My Health, My Right.’ He believes every individual deserves the fundamental right to access quality healthcare tailored to their needs, and the commitment lies in empowering individuals to exercise this right for their well-being and prosperity.

Underscoring the importance of prioritizing healthcare accessibility as a fundamental human right, Korie said: , “We at SUNU Health believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their background or socio-economic status. This translates to the company’s commitment to working with stakeholders across the healthcare industry to bridge this gap and ensure a healthier Nigeria for all”.

He further emphasised that through strategic partnerships, innovative healthcare solutions, and community outreach programs, SUNU Health Nigeria aims to address healthcare disparities and ensure that healthcare services are accessible to all segments of society.

SUNU Health offers a comprehensive range of healthcare plans designed to meet the needs of individuals and families. Over 25 years of experience, the company provides affordable healthcare services to her teeming enrollees through a network of more 1,600 qualified healthcare providers, nationwide.
