Guinness World Records has announced the death of the world’s oldest man, John Alfred Tinniswood, at the age of 112.

He died on Monday, 25 November, 2024, at the Hollies Care Home in Southport, England, where he resided.

This was made known in a statement by Guinness World Records on its website on Tuesday.

The statement said, “Guinness World Records is saddened to learn that John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man, has died at the age of 112.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“He passed away yesterday (Monday, 26 November) at the care home in Southport, England, where he resided.

“His family told Guinness World Records in a statement: ‘His last day was surrounded by music and love.”
In a statement released this morning, John’s family said, “We are saddened to inform you that John Alfred Tinniswood died peacefully on Monday (25 November ) aged 112, at his care home in Southport. His last day was surrounded by music and love.

“John always liked to say thank you. So, on his behalf, thank you to all those who cared for him over the years, including his carers at the Hollies Care Home, his GPs, district nurses, occupational therapists and other NHS staff. John’s life was one surrounded by love.”

Born on 26 August 1912, to Ada and John Bernard Tinniswood, he went on to marry his late wife, Blodwen Tinniswood, and they had a daughter, Susan.

A devoted Liverpool FC supporter, he gained global recognition in April 2024 when he was officially named the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records, following the death of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora at 114.

John is survived by his daughter, Susan, grandchildren Annouchka, Marisa, Toby, and Rupert, and great-grandchildren Tabitha, Callum, and Nieve.
