Nigeria’s Super Falcons have confirmed their place in the Round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup being co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
In their last fixture of Group B, the Nigerian women played goalless with the Republic of Ireland to end the preliminary phase with five points having had the same result with Olympic champions Canada and beating Australia 3-2.
Nigeria therefore ended the group phase with five points, while Australia, who shocked Canada 4-0 in the simultaneous fixture, topped the group with six points.
Nigeria and Australia will have to wait for the opponents in the Round of 16.
