Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have intercepted three suspected terrorists in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed on Saturday by security expert Zagazola Makama in a statement shared on X.
According to Makama, troops of the 73 Battalion, working alongside CJTF operatives, intercepted the suspects around the Kayamla general area of Konduga LGA.
The suspects reportedly claimed to be repentant terrorists undergoing rehabilitation at the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Centre and said they were in the area to visit their farms.
Makama said one of the suspects was allegedly found in possession of two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.
He added that the suspect attempted to escape during the operation but was subsequently neutralised by the troops.
“The other two suspects were apprehended and remain in military custody for further investigation,” he stated.
The troops also reportedly recovered a bicycle, bottles of herbicide and other items from the suspects.
The remaining suspects are being held for further investigation as security agencies continue efforts to prevent the movement of suspected terrorists and illegal arms in the area.
