Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), will win the 2027 presidential election regardless of the level of support he receives from the Igbo community.
Fayose made the claim in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday. His remarks have also been reported by multiple Nigerian news outlets.
He also criticised Igbo people supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, describing them as “wicked”.
According to Fayose, no Igbo politician in the past 40 years, except the late Biafran leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, had achieved what Obi has achieved politically.
“Any Igbo man supporting this APC government is a wicked Igbo man. When it comes to politics in Igbo land, in the last 40 years, apart from late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, no other Igbo man has done what Peter Obi has done.
“Any Igbo man that does not support Peter Obi is a wicked and jealous Igbo man. You all should know that with or without you, Obi will still win come January 2027,” he said.
Fayose’s prediction is his personal political assessment and does not constitute an established election outcome.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, joined the NDC in May and was subsequently unveiled as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Political activities and alignments are continuing to intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with parties and their candidates preparing for the electoral contest.
