The Lagos State Government has announced that the the Third Mainland Bridge would be re-opened on Thursday. according to a statement by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on his X account on Saturday.
The statement read: “Dear Lagos residents, We’re pleased to share that the Third Mainland Bridge will resume full operations on 4th April 2024, following extensive repairs.
“We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation, and we look forward to even smoother travels ahead”
At about 12 kilometres, the Third Mainland Bridge is Africa’s second-longest bridge, connecting the Lagos mainland to the Lagos Island. It is a lifeline for residents, facilitating daily commutes and contributing significantly to the economic activities of its region.
On 5th January, the Lagos State Government announced that the bridge would be partially closed from Tuesday, 9th January for repairs.
