Five yet-to-be-identified corps members have tragically lost their lives following an accident in Cross River State.

According to reports, the victims were on their way to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) on Monday, 5th June when their bus veered off a bridge and plunged into a river.

The Cross River State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Andrew Zemoh has confirmed the death of the five corps members.

Zemoh in a chat with newsmen expressed his sympathy to the bereaved families and noted that they would decide when the victims will be buried.

A Facebook user, Comr Salau George Alexander, who said he camped with them in Obubra camp batch A stream 2, shared photos of the victims on the platform.

“RIP to these beautiful souls. We camped together in Cross River (Obubra camp) batch A stream 2. I remember how we (I and Giveth) met at Onitcha park en route to Cross River and became close. She became friends with Ada in camp, and they were inseparable. Everybody in our camp knows them as best friends.

“When I heard the news today, I was terrified. I just couldn’t believe it. I made a few calls to confirm, and alas! It did happen. It was reported that they drowned after their vehicle fell into a river. How it happened is beyond my comprehension, but God knows best. RIP, you have paid the ultimate price. May God grant you paradise,” he wrote.
