The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Oyo State Directorate, has warned Nigerians of the dire consequences of scooping fuel from fallen tankers.

The state director, Dr. Olukemi Afolayan gave this warning in a press release made available to newsmen in Ibadan by the state head of media, Isiaka Kehinde .

According to Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, Oyo State Director, “Scooping fuel from a fallen tanker can be deadly, causing fire outbreaks, explosions, loss of lives and properties, and environmental pollution”.

Dr. Afolayan urged citizens to prioritize safety, noting that fuel is highly inflammable. “When a tanker falls, leave the vicinity immediately and notify relevant authorities to handle the incident professionally”.

She emphasized that emergency responders are trained to deal with such situations safely and efficiently. “Let’s not interfere with their work. Instead, wait patiently for them to clear the tanker safely”.

Dr. Afolayan appealed to citizens to learn from past tragic occurrences and prioritize safety over immediate gains.
