The Federal Government has introduced a Contactless Passport Renewal System in Europe to enable Nigerians to renew their passports effortlessly.

The system will allow eligible Nigerians to renew their passports online without visiting an embassy or consulate, reducing waiting times and eliminating the inconvenience of travel.

According to a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, noted that the system was designed to streamline passport renewals for Nigerians abroad, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Tunji-Ojo stated that the initiative showed the Federal Government’s dedication to allowing passport renewals to be conducted without physical presence, cutting down processing times significantly.

He said, ‘It enhances accessibility, ensuring that Nigerians in the diaspora experience government services with ease, regardless of their location. It also reinforces modernization, as we embrace technology to meet the contemporary needs of our citizens.

‘This in line with our pledge to digital transformation of the country as we race towards achieving the one-trillion-dollar economy ambition of President Bola Tinubu’.

Tunji-Ojo stressed that Nigerians abroad were an integral part of national development and that the government remained committed to providing professional, efficient, and secure services.
